HOME / OUR STORY
It started with a $150 trailer named Lucy.
Tasha found her on Facebook Marketplace: a beat-up little trailer. She painted her green, filled her with plants, and named her Lucy. In 2019, Hickory Lane Plants was born, named for the street where Tasha's family lived.
Plants came first, though. After becoming a mom in 2014, Tasha found that caring for plants was the thing she looked forward to. It went from a windowsill to a trailer to the shop on South Glenstone. 417 Magazine wrote about the trailer in 2020.
“I grew up poor… I understand that. And I also understand the people that have more disposable incomes… so we can cater to both ends of the spectrum.”
That is still how the shop is stocked: plants at every price, with straight advice about keeping them alive. Not every plant is right for every room, and we will say so.

Lucy, Mobile Joe, and the shop on Glenstone.
Lucy still rolls out for special occasions. Mobile Joe, the plant truck, is at the farmers market on Saturdays and pops up at local events. And the shop on Glenstone is where it all lives: plants, oddities, gifts, and natural history, together under one roof, with Tasha, her crew, and usually her daughter Ava somewhere in the middle of it.
Come in looking for something specific, or come in to look around. There is usually something new.
